The SNES version of Shadowrun appeared earlier than the Genesis one , and it is an entirely different game, with different story and gameplay, although it is also based on a pen-and-paper RPG of the same name. Your hero, Jake, is attacked by assassins, and appears to be dead. However, a mysterious dog approaches his lifeless body, transforms into a woman, and casts a spell on him... After that Jake wakes up in the morgue. He doesn't know what happened to him, he doesn't even remember his own name. Wandering through the futuristic city, where monorails, computers, and street gangs armed with automatic weapons co-exist with orcs, dwarves, and vampires, you begin to discover the mystery and to learn about the dangers awaiting you around every corner. Shadowrun for SNES is a skill-based RPG that uses real time combat. You can hire "deckers", i.e., temporary party members, but the main focus of the gameplay is on Jake and his abilities and skills. There are no random battles, but many screens with respawning enemies, where you can earn experience points and upgrade your skills. The experience points are called "karma" in this game. You need to gain karma in order to advance in one of the several skills available to you. You'll also be able to buy skills from people. The skills include firearms, computers, negotiation, leadership, and many others. You can also use the gained karma points to upgrade basic stats like hit points or charisma.

"Dragon Slayer" tells the story of a young prince named Selios. One day his old teacher Raiyas sends him to a nearby cave to retrieve a magic weapon. When the prince returns, he finds the house attacked by monsters. Raiyas tells him to seek help in the castle of a baron, whose country has always been allies with theirs for a long time. However, the baron betrays Selios' trust and imprisons him. The young prince manages to escape, but without the possibility to return he has no choice but to wander through the land, trying to find trustworthy companions who would help him to save his country. This is a traditional medieval-themed Japanese RPG with turn-based combat viewed from first-person perspective (like in Dragon Warrior games). The enemies are semi-random: they do appear out of nowhere and attack suddenly, but they are visible on the screen, and if you flee from a battle they will still be there to pursue you. The Genesis release has updated graphics; gameplay-wise it is identical to the SNES version.

An addictive 3D shooter in which you drove a little red car (er, tank) and blasted away enemies. The gameplay is similar to Battlezone, and obviously inspired by it. You had a selection of three tanks, each with three values (speed; armor; and firepower) balanced out to match its name: Tough Guy was heavy on armor, but slow and not very powerful; Speedy was fast, but low armor; and Balanced was, well, balanced. A fourth tank allowed you to customize your own variant. Every level consisted of a large plane filled with enemy tanks, several psychedelic walls with odd images that would often flicker or warp in a way you'd think you were on an acid trip, and tacky 3D models like windmills. The object of each level was to either destroy all the enemy tanks in the level, or to collect all the flags. Every level had some sort of theme to it, anything from plain green to a colorful blinking eye or images of sand dunes would be found on the walls, windmills and flags throughout the level. With every passing level, enemy tanks grew smarter and their rates of fire increased. Also in later levels, new, smarter, more powerful enemy tanks would join the skirmish. You had a limited amount of ammo, but driving over ammo deposits replenished a small amount of ammunition, as well as driving over shield deposits granted you additional shields. The three different views (first, third, and top-down) allowed you to incorporate additional strategies into the battles. The game boasted having supposedly an infinite amount of levels, though anything after level 80 was almost instant death. A high score table allowed you to gloat over your awesome scores.
